Mitdlarak Lennert has resigned as Chair of the Greenland Research Council following her appointment by Naalakkersuisut – The Government of Greenland – as Chair of the Greenland Education Council. This appointment marks a milestone in her career, providing her with the opportunity to continue her long-standing commitment to education at a national level.

“It has been an honor to lead the Greenland Research Council, and I am grateful for the cooperation with the council members and the research community in Greenland. I look forward to taking on the role of Chair of the Greenland Education Council and contributing to the development of educational policies and new solutions that can address Greenland’s educational needs,” said Mitdlarak Lennert.

As a researcher, Mitdlarak Lennert specializes in governance and evaluation methods in education systems. Her research has played a central role in discussions about the governance of the Greenlandic primary school and reform processes within the education sector. As part of her PhD project, she specifically focused on the need for an independent education council – a recommendation that has now become a reality and which she will have the opportunity to implement.

Mitdlarak Lennert has served as Chair of the Greenland Research Council since February 2024.

Lorenz Meire, Vice-Chair of the Greenland Research Council, will serve as Acting Chair until Naalakkersuisut appoints a new Chairperson.
