Purpose
The purpose of the fellowships is to strengthen research capacity in Greenland, promote the development of new researchers, and support collaboration between Greenlandic and Danish research environments. The scheme contributes to the long-term development of knowledge and competencies in accordance with Greenland’s national research strategy.
The fellowships are open to applications within all major scientific fields and are awarded on the basis of academic evaluation.
Who can apply
PhD fellowships may be applied for by candidates who have completed a relevant Master’s degree before the application deadline and are enrolled in, or have secured an agreement for enrolment in, a PhD programme at a recognised institution. The project must be anchored in a relevant research environment with ties to Greenland.
Postdoctoral fellowships may be applied for by researchers who have obtained a PhD degree before the application deadline. The project must have a clear academic profile and be affiliated with a relevant research environment related to Greenland.
Duration
PhD fellowships are awarded for a period of three years.
Postdoctoral fellowships are awarded for a period of two years.
Financial terms
The fellowships include salary in accordance with the applicable collective agreement, as well as the possibility of funding for education, travel, and operating expenses in accordance with the current call. Overhead may be granted in accordance with applicable rules.
It is a condition that the project is fully funded through the fellowship and any supplementary funding.
Application procedure
Applications must be submitted in accordance with the current call and the accompanying guidelines. The application must meet the specified formal requirements and include all relevant appendices.
Applications are assessed on the basis of scientific quality, the feasibility of the project, and its contribution to research in Greenland.
All applicants will receive written notification of the outcome after the completion of the evaluation process.
