Projektets forskningsområde, formål og forskningsspørgsmål:
The application’s core purpose is to gain experience from another Arctic city with a proven track record of working with homeless people in innovative ways.
To develop a sustainable, meaningful, inspirational research and local agency network with the Institute for Social and Economic Research and the UAA School of Social Work in Anchorage, Alaska. Empirical findings from this experience is to be implemented in local research and teaching at Ilisimatusarfik. One further important is our current collaboration with the Municipality of Sermersooq where we, in 2022, will begin courses for street-level workers in Nuuk. Homelessness affects impoverished populations globally. Homelessness has become very noticeable within the Arctic. Homelessness is a complex issue with various, and at times, opposing definitions. Homelessness is one of many disadvantages that intersect with other societal factors that affect some of the most vulnerable people (e.g., poverty, substance abuse, stigmatization, unemployment, and poor physical & mental well-being). In the Arctic, we see significant challenges with housing, a lack of adequate welfare and health support for the, and both the Arctic climate and postcolonial struggle to develop up-to-date social policies that are culturally appropriate.

•Dialogue with the local municipal taskforce on homelessness around approaches to streel-level methodology In 2022 We will as a part of our current collaboration with the Municipality of Sermersooq where we, in 2022, will begin courses for street-level workers in Nuuk. Learn from that process in a participatory setting and develop further ways doing street-level work in Nuuk and hopefully cities like Sisimiut, Qaqortoq and Maniitsoq where homelessness is a social problem.
