The aim of the proposed project is to

  1. Quantify superimposed ice formation and its relevance to surface mass balance for a Greenland glacier,
  2. Quantify drivers of superimposed ice formation and
  3. The atmospheric processes that lead to its degradation.

For this we use well-established detailed measurement and modelling techniques. Our primary study site will be a relatively accessible glacier in Southwest Greenland where current monitoring by stakes and weather station provide an ideal foundation to study superimposed ice formation in a changing climate.
