Call for Research Promotion Funding 2026

The Greenland Research Council hereby invites applications for Research Promotion Funding 2026.

The Research Promotion Fund aims to promote and strengthen the development of Greenlandic research for the benefit of society. Applications may be submitted for research activities within all major academic fields, and funding is awarded through open competition without thematic restrictions.

The Greenland Research Council places particular emphasis on research that is locally grounded and substantially carried out and led by local researchers and partners. Applicants should therefore describe how local actors and citizens will be involved, how the project contributes to Greenland’s National Research Strategy, and how the research contributes to capacity building and knowledge sharing in Greenlandic society.

Who can apply?

Applications must be affiliated with a Greenlandic research institution.

Applications may be submitted for:

  • Up to DKK 100,000 for individual projects involving one Greenlandic research institution.
  • Up to DKK 250,000 for projects involving collaboration between at least two Greenlandic institutions, with costs reasonably distributed among the participating institutions.

1 October 2026

Application material

Applications must be completed using the applicable application form and submitted together with the required supporting documents.

The application must include, among other things, a project description, budget, CV and publication list, as well as documentation of acceptance from the administering institution.
