Allaatigisaq:
In this interdisciplinary project, we plan to combine atmospheric and marine observations in order to setup an integrated study in Kangersuneq, close to the Greenland Ice Sheet. The main objectives of the project carried out by Asiaq and the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources (GINR) are to:

  • increase our understanding on the local climatology in the inlet system
  • study the coupling between atmospheric processes and the marine environment
  • construct a heat budget for the inlet
  • bridge the gap between the marine and atmospheric research in Greenland by strengthening the collaboration between the two corresponding Greenland research institutions.
  • publish the collected data and pictures on Asiaq’s web site, and provide the local community (fishermen, hunters, tourists etc.) with real-time information on weather and ice conditions in Kangersuneq.
