Samlinger af koldtvandskoraller og havsvampe udg\u00f8r s\u00e6rlige hotspots for biodiversitet. Samtidig er produktive havbundssamfund med til at underst\u00f8tte store fiskerier efter is\u00e6r rejer og hellefisk, som udg\u00f8r over 80% af den gr\u00f8nlandske nationale eksportv\u00e6rdi. Imidlertid kan bundtrawl og klima\u00e6ndringer have skadelige virkninger p\u00e5 havbunden. Havsvampe og koralhaver er af FNs f\u00f8devare- og landbrugsorganisation (FAO) betragtet som s\u00e5rbare marine \u00f8kosystemer (VME&#8217;er) og b\u00f8r derfor beskyttes gennem rumlig forvaltning. Havbundssamfundene i Gr\u00f8nland er dog generelt ikke s\u00e6rligt grundigt beskrevet, og forskellige biologiske habitaters rumlige udbredelse og funktion er stort set ukendt. Dette begr\u00e6nser mulighederne for effektiv rumlig forvaltning. Vi antager, at rumlige forskelle i de vestgr\u00f8nlandske havbundssamfunds struktur og funktion er drevet af forskelle i det omgivende milj\u00f8. I dette projekt vil vi unders\u00f8ge disse milj\u00f8m\u00e6ssige \u2019drivers\u2019 samt havbundssamfundenes funktion ved at kombinere analyser af eksisterende pr\u00f8vesamlinger med nye unders\u00f8gelser. Vi vil relatere m\u00f8nstre i biodiversitet, biomasse og f\u00f8dek\u00e6de-kompleksitet med milj\u00f8- og produktivitetsgradienter, for det f\u00f8rste i stor skala fra 59\u00b0-75,5\u00b0N, og for det andet i h\u00f8j opl\u00f8sning p\u00e5 et fjord-offshore transekt i Sydvestgr\u00f8nland.
