Dette skyldes en gr\u00e5bjerg (lavl\u00f8digt malm), i forbindelse med minedrift, er deponeret, s\u00e5ledes der kan sive tungmetaller ud i fjorden. I Maarmorilik er gr\u00e5bjerg deponeret b\u00e5de p\u00e5 fjeldsiderne og i selve fjorden, mens det i Ivittuut er brugt til at opbygge kajanl\u00e6g.<\/p>\n<p>Dette projekt har til form\u00e5l, at teste to lavteknologiske metoder til at minimere udsivning af tungmetaller fra gr\u00e5bjergdeponier, i forbindelse med minedrift.<\/p>\n<p>I den f\u00f8rste metode, blandes nedknust beton med gr\u00e5bjerg. Da beton er meget basisk, vil pH v\u00e6rdien stige, og det forventes at medf\u00f8re en mindre udvaskning af tungmetaller.<\/p>\n<p>I den anden test, blandes rejeskaller med gr\u00e5bjerg.
