I Kapisillit elven findes den eneste kendte gydebestand af Atlanterhavs Laks (Salmo Salar), ogs\u00e5 kaldet sk\u00e6llaks eller kapisilik. Der findes andre elve, hvor der er indimellem er observeret en voksen laks, men ingen med en fast bestand af laks eller elve, hvor der er fanget laksesmolt (yngel). Generelt er de fleste elve i Gr\u00f8nland kolde, stejle og korte, sammenlignet med de elve, floder og \u00e5er i Nordamerika og Europa, hvor laks normalt gyder. Kapisillit elvens bestand er dog beviset p\u00e5, at laks kan yngle i Gr\u00f8nland, hvis de rette betingelser er til stede. Viden om hvorfor kapisillit elven har unikke temperatur forhold der g\u00f8r det muligt for laks at yngle i elven, men antagelsen er ikke unders\u00f8gt med moderne metoder.
