Metallerne er blevet meget eftertragtede, da de bruges i en lang r\u00e6kke forbrugerprodukter \u2013 eks. mobiltelefoner og computere. Kendskabet til stoffernes toxicitet er relativt begr\u00e6nset, ligesom der er begr\u00e6nset kendskab til stoffernes baggrundskoncentrationer i Gr\u00f8nland. Form\u00e5let med n\u00e6rv\u00e6rende projekt er at indsamle eksisterende data og samtidig f\u00e5 nye data p\u00e5 koncentrationer af sj\u00e6ldne jordarters metaller i jord, ferskvand og saltvand fra forskellige dele af Gr\u00f8nland. Dataindsamlingen sker ved at gennemg\u00e5 offentlige rapporter og databaser. Nye data indsamles ved at f\u00e5 Naturinstitut- tets forskere til at udtage jord og vandpr\u00f8ver i forbindelse med det feltarbejde som udf\u00f8res forskellige steder i Gr\u00f8nland. P\u00e5 baggrund af tidligere og nye analyseresultater opn\u00e5s informationer om koncentrations- niveauer og variationer i det Gr\u00f8nlandske milj\u00f8.
