Moniteringsprogrammet giver os bl.a. viden om status af ynglebestandene, \u00e6ndringer over yngles\u00e6sonen og ynglesucces.<br \/>\nVi arbejder med to typer billeder: fotografering af hele kolonier, med henblik p\u00e5 totalopt\u00e6llinger, og time-lapsebilleder over et udsnit af bestemte kolonier, taget af fastmonterede kameraer i regelm\u00e6ssige intervaller over hele yngles\u00e6sonen. Time-lapse billederne giver data for hvorn\u00e5r yngles\u00e6sonen starter og slutter, variationen i antal fugle i kolonien over hele s\u00e6sonen samt andelen af de ynglende fugle, som f\u00e5r unger p\u00e5 vingerne.<br \/>\nFeltarbejde i fuglekolonier er kr\u00e6vende og dyrt. Brug af fotografi har forbedret overv\u00e5gningen betydeligt med \u00f8get n\u00f8jagtighed og ved at muligg\u00f8re indsamling af data, der ellers ville v\u00e6re for tidskr\u00e6vende og omkostningsfuld. Ulempen er en v\u00e6sentlig stigning i arbejdsbyrden tilbage p\u00e5 kontoret. Et problem, som maskinl\u00e6ring potentielt kan hj\u00e6lpe med at l\u00f8se.<br \/>\nMed dette projekt s\u00f8ger vi midler til at ans\u00e6tte en nyligt uddannet biolog med erfaring inden for machine learning og billedanalyse. Vores m\u00e5l er at unders\u00f8ge, om det er muligt at anvende eksisterende billedmateriale til automatiseret identifikation, og opt\u00e6lling af fugle ud fra digitale billeder fra vores moniteringsprogram.
