Fjorden er ikke blot et betagende syn, men ogs\u00e5 hjemsted for en bred vifte af arter, som rings\u00e6ler og store hellefisk, der har stor betydning for det lokale samfunds \u00f8konomi og kultur. Men trods fjordens \u00f8kologiske og \u00f8konomiske betydning er der stadig store huller i vores forst\u00e5else af de grundl\u00e6ggende processer, der opretholder dens biodiversitet.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">En ny forskningsindsats retter nu fokus mod bunden af f\u00f8dek\u00e6den: plankton. Sascha Schi\u00f8tt, forsker ved Pinngortitaleriffik, skal med en postdocbevilling fra Gr\u00f8nlands Forskningsr\u00e5d nu i gang med at afd\u00e6kke planktons rolle som fundament for livet i Ilulissat Isfjord. Projektet bygger videre p\u00e5 hendes kandidat- og ph.d.-projekter.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0537df2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"0537df2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000000;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Plankton som fundament for f\u00f8dek\u00e6den<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt; color: #000000;\">Phytoplankton og zooplankton spiller en central rolle i det marine \u00f8kosystem som den prim\u00e6re energikilde for mange af fjordens arter. Phytoplankton \u2013 mikroskopiske planter \u2013 udnytter solens energi til at producere organisk stof via fotosyntese, mens zooplankton, som omfatter sm\u00e5dyr s\u00e5som mikroskopiske krebsdyr og fiskelarver, lever af mindre plankton og fungerer selv som f\u00f8de for st\u00f8rre organismer.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt; color: #000000;\">Ilulissat Isfjords klima og utilg\u00e6ngelige isd\u00e6kke har l\u00e6nge gjort det sv\u00e6rt at indsamle forskningsdata fra omr\u00e5det. For at omg\u00e5 disse udfordringer vil projektet blandt andet bruge innovative metoder, herunder anvendelse af rings\u00e6ler og fjeld\u00f8rreder som &#8220;biologiske v\u00e6rkt\u00f8jer&#8221;.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt; color: #000000;\">&#8220;Det, at vi ikke kan sejle ind med Sanna eller Tarajoq, giver nogle begr\u00e6nsninger, som eDNA-teknologi og andre biologiske pr\u00f8ver kan v\u00e6re med til at kompensere for,&#8221; siger Sascha Schi\u00f8tt.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt; color: #000000;\">\u201dPlanktons rolle kan v\u00e6re sv\u00e6rt at begribe, n\u00e5r man ikke kan se dem med det blotte \u00f8je,\u201d forklarer Sascha. \u201dMen ved f.eks. at analysere planktonpr\u00f8ver indsamlet med net, der fanger plankton, og ved gennemgang af maveindholdet fra rings\u00e6ler og fjeld\u00f8rred kan jeg f\u00e5 adgang til pr\u00f8ver af zooplankton, som ellers ville v\u00e6re vanskelige at indsamle\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8a149f3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8a149f3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt; color: #000000;\">Klimaforandringer og fremtidens forvaltning<\/span><\/strong><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt; color: #000000;\">Ilulissat Isfjord er s\u00e6rligt s\u00e5rbar over for klimaforandringer, der kan forstyrre \u00f8kosystemets balance. Forandringer i havtemperatur, isd\u00e6kke og n\u00e6ringsstofcyklusser kan p\u00e5virke planktonets produktivitet og dermed hele f\u00f8dek\u00e6den.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt; color: #000000;\">\u201dProjektet vil kortl\u00e6gge forbindelserne mellem plankton og st\u00f8rre arter, hvilket vil skabe viden til st\u00f8tte for r\u00e5dgivningen om en b\u00e6redygtig forvaltning af de marine ressourcer. Det kan ogs\u00e5 bidrage til en bredere forst\u00e5else af, hvordan klimaforandringer p\u00e5virker arktiske marine \u00f8kosystemer\u201d, fort\u00e6ller Sascha Schi\u00f8tt.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-eccba00 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"eccba00\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt; color: #000000;\">Samarbejde med lokale fiskere og fangere<\/span><\/strong><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt; color: #000000;\">Et af de centrale elementer i Sascha Schi\u00f8tts forskning er samarbejdet med de lokale fiskere og fangere, der har en dyb forst\u00e5else af Ilulissat Isfjords \u00f8kosystem og ressourcer. &#8220;Det er deres jagt- og fiskeomr\u00e5der, jeg tr\u00e6der p\u00e5, derfor er det selvsagt, at jeg samarbejder med dem,&#8221; forklarer Sascha.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt; color: #000000;\">De lokale akt\u00f8rer bidrager med unik viden om havets rytmer, dyrelivets adf\u00e6rd og isforhold. &#8220;De kender omr\u00e5dernes s\u00e6sonm\u00f8nstre og kan ofte forudsige, hvor man finder bestemte arter eller \u00e6ndringer i milj\u00f8et. De bidrager til at validere mine resultater med deres egne erfaringer.
